Learn how to authenticate Lokalise Vantage API requests using a personal API token and how to create, use, secure, and revoke your token.
The Lokalise Vantage API uses the same personal API tokens as the Lokalise Expert API.
Create an API token
To create a token:
-
In Lokalise, click your avatar in the bottom-left corner.
-
Go to Profile settings > API tokens.
-
Click Generate new token.
-
Select the token type:
- Read-only — can only retrieve data.
- Read/write — can retrieve and modify data.
-
Generate the token and store it securely.
For more information about creating and managing API tokens, see the API and OTA tokens guide.
The token has the same access permissions as the user who created it. This means that the API can only access projects and perform actions available to that user.
Authenticate API requests
Send your API token with every request using the X-Api-Token header:
curl --request GET \
--url "https://api.lokalise.com/vantage/v1/projects/{projectId}/items" \
--header "X-Api-Token: YOUR_API_TOKEN"Requests without a valid API token are rejected.
Keep your token secure
Treat API tokens like passwords. Do not expose them in client-side code, public repositories, logs, or other publicly accessible locations.
Lokalise API tokens do not expire automatically. If a token is no longer needed or may have been exposed, go to Profile settings > API tokens and delete it. Once deleted, the token can no longer be used for API requests.
